I know it's been a while since I posted, but here goes - -
I have my first closing scheduled for this Friday. Lets keep our fingers crossed that there aren't any last minute disruptions. I also have a few condo sales on the horizon and I have two listing appointments this week.
Things with Mark are good. For those who haven't heard, he has decided not to go to graduate school after all. He feels it will be too stressful to have his full time job PLUS all that homework, reading and studying. I am supporting his decision 100%. His law firm as branched out into family law which has proven to be interesting. He's not used to getting phone calls from irate spouses and such. I'll keep you posted on all the latest water cooler gossip.
Please Please Please Please send me any real estate referrals. No matter how small or large. Sellers, Buyers or Renters. I'll take them all.

August in Texas
Hi Everyone. Let me start by saying that it's hot as hell and I hate it. I was showing property to a client yesterday and it was freakin' hot. I had 5 houses on the agenda which was pretty manageable, until she showed up and had a whole list of houses she wanted to add. We wound up looking at 13 houses, some of which were still under construction which means NO AIR CONDITIONING! ARG! It was a fruitful day though. I think we found a couple she likes.
I almost got my first listing last week. Before you say to yourself, "almost??" , let me tell the story.
I got a call from a guy who had been referred by a friend. He inherited this house from his mom about 15 yrs ago and it's been sitting for all this time. Let me briefly try to explain what part of town this house is in. On the news every night, there are stories about shootings and stabbings and they are usually on or near South Hackberry. The house in question is 2 blocks off Hackberry. Strike One.
Ok, so I show up to talk to the guy and I get my first look at the house. It's clear from the very start that it's been lived in by transients or druggies for quite a while. It's in really bad shape and he's trying to "fix it up" by slapping on a new coat of paint. yeah right. The ceiling in the back hallway had fallen in due to water damage in the past and his idea of fixing it was to put some sort of new ceiling. STRIKE TWO.
At this point I'm saying to myself, "Trent, this is a really bad idea. Do you really want to get mixed up in a house like this?" So I called a friend at a title company to do a search of the property just to make sure all the legal stuff is in order. WELL, she calls me back saying that the city has been sent out to this property over and over and over again to clean up the yard because nobody can find the owners and there are about $5000 worth of lien's on the property, which have to be paid before the title can be transfered. STRIKE THREE.
Needless to say, I didn't take the listing. I doubt anybody will.
Other than that, everything is going well. Mark was accepted to graduate school and is starting his first classes in just a few weeks, so we'll both be extremely busy and broke, so don't ask us to do anything expensive. No, seriously, dont ask. haha.

NEW ENTRY
Ok. So it's been a while since I posted. I'M SORRY! There has been alot going on around here.
Business is going well, both at the salon and at Keller Williams. I'm smack dab in the middle of their training program and i'm learning alot. I've gotten some pretty good leads and I hope they prove to be fruitful. Now that I'm only part time at the salon, money is pretty tight and I could use a few closings.
Speaking of which, I DO offer referral "gifts" to all of you out-of-towners (or local people) who send me good leads. I know there are alot of people moving to San Antonio from California who could use the name of a good agent... hint hint. I'm sure there are also lots moving from Houston.. hint hint hint. You should all be receiving note cards in the mail shortly with my business card inside.
On to other news.... Mark is moving up his school date. He was going to start in the spring, but he's decided to start taking classes this fall. He is volunteering at the public library by our house every weekend and he's really enjoying it.
The dogs are good. The house is good. Our friends are good. The movie Stardust is excellent, just in case you were wondering.

The Website Is Up and Running
ok, my real estate website is up and running. I want some feedback. It's not really done yet. There's still some information I need to add to it, but the basic part of it is done. How do you feel about the "look" of it? I didn't want anything too cheesy. Most real estate websites have things like a field of flowers or some crap like that.
If you think it needs to be brighter and cheerier, I can do that.

My first open house
I'm holding an open house for an other Realtor this weekend. He has been a client of mine at the salon for about five years and he's one of the reasons I chose Keller Williams. He has been extremely successful and hope I learn alot from him. I hope I get lots and lots of people coming through because it can be a good way to generate leads. It can also be a colosal waste of time. Only time will tell.
The weather is less than perfect this weekend so we'll have to wait and see how things work out.
I got a new picture taken for my business cards. I rarely like how I photograph, but this one turned out pretty good.
