Visit To The Lake

This morning we had some free time so we decided to take a drive to a local lake for some light hiking.  The lake is named Wright Patman Lake, and we decided on what its slogan should be....... "Wright Patman Lake.  It Smells Like A Big Fart."

Apparently there is a large sulfur deposit in the area. The river that feeds into it is called the Sulfer River, and the whole area stinks.   Once we got used to the smell, it had some great scenery

Mark and his dad, Billy.

Mark is in Arkansas, I am in Texas

The Texarkana Post Office is in both states.  The state line runs right through the middle.

There were many geese at the park.

Texarkana, Texas

Mark and I are on a mini vacation.  We are visiting Mark's dad in Texarkana Texas.  We got here yesterday afternoon.  Mark's dad, Billy, came to meet us at the hotel, then we went to see Mark's uncle Ronnie and his wife.  They were super nice and had a lovely home.

It's now almost noon on Monday, and this morning we had breakfast here at the hotel, then we did some driving around.  We walked around a lovely city park with a pond and some geese and ducks.  We drove over to see the largest Magnolia tree in Texas (as you can see, there's not alot to do here in Texarkana).  Now we're waiting for Marks dad to get here and we'll take him out to lunch.

I forgot to bring my photo card adapter so I cant put any pictures on here until we get home on Wednesday night.

Little Red Riding Hood

Here's a cute picture Mark took of Jake.  He was wearing his Little Red Riding Hood outfit.

A sad day.

When we got home from work Monday, our visitor (the miniature pinscher) was missing from our yard.  I think she jumped the fence.  Considering we only have a 4 foot high chain-link fence, it's not that hard to do for a nimble little dog like her.  The other possibility is that her owner saw her and took her back, which would be very rude considering I had a collar on her with the name we gave her and my cell number.  In all probability, she got out and someone else decided to keep her.   Whatever the circumstance, we're both sad.  She was a very sweet dog.

Will this open up the possibility of us going to the shelter to look for a NEW visitor??????

A Visitor

Friday morning as I was walking out my front door, I saw this sweet little lost doggie hanging out in my flower bed.   I called her over and she came right to me. I figured she must be a lost pet, so I took her to our vet to have her scanned for a microchip.  No Chip. Doh!  I put signs up in the neighborhood and put an add on Craigslist but no responses from her owner.  For now, she'll stay with us, but we might surrender her to a rescue organization.  She a very sweet miniature pinscher. The vet she's probably around 6 or 7 years old and she has an extremely sweet disposition.  Here's a picture.

Monday afternoon I closed on another house. Yipee.. it's pay day!
