Jake The Wonder Dog

Hi All. I didn't have much to write about so I posted a few videos of Jake. I hope you like them. He's the sweetest dog in the whole world!!

Mark and I are going to be taking care of Darren and Nicole's dogs for 15 days. That means we'll have 5 dogs for a while. No biggie though. We once had 5 dogs of our own. I'll be posting pictures of their stay next week.

Good Weekend

Hi Everyone. It's been about a week since our last posting so I figured I'd better write something even though it's been a pretty uneventful week.

The salon is doing really well and I've been busier than usual. Mark is doing well and things around his office are ok.

We watched Blood Diamond last night. It was a good movie but it's really violent so it's not for kids.

Y'all have a great week!

video of bbq

Here is a video of us from last night. Below there is another posting with some pictures.

Our first bbq of 2007

On Sunday we cleaned up the back yard and fired up the grill for the first time this year. We also saw our neighbors with their brand new baby. Brandy and Tom had little Thomas last Monday and they brought him home Thursday or Friday.
They are in the process of adding a second story onto their house. They have the exterior all framed up and they painted in on Saturday. The interior wont be ready to occupy for another month or so.

There are some pics of Tom and Brandy's 2 older girls, Honey and Jasmine. The new boy will go by his middle name, Darwin.

Daisy

Today was a relaxing day. I spent the bulk of the afternoon baking home-made dog snacks. I took this great picture of Daisy pretending she is a real daisy.

To bake your own homemade dog treats, here is a really simple recipe:
Preheat oven to 300.

1.5 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup wheat germ
1 egg
1 large jar of beef or chicken baby food. I used the Gerber step 3 baby food.

Mix and roll it out to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into squares or cut with a cookie cutter. Bake on baking sheet sprayed with Pam for 45 - 60 minutes. Let cool and keep in an air tight container.

The dogs like these alot. I tasted them and they dont taste that good to me, but then again i'm not a dog. You can find alot of recipes if you search for "dog treat recipes" on Google. Alot of them require alot of ingredients. I like this recipe because it doesn't take alot to make it.

March 11th Update

Hi Everyone. We don't have much to report. We had a good weekend. This morning I worked in the yard. I had to cut back the rose bushes and the Esperanza's. I mowed the grass but it started raining before I could do the edging and weed-eating. Its supposed to rain for the next few days so I guess I will get a reprieve from yard work.

Our next door neighbors are doing alot of construction on their house and it's going really quickly. They are adding a second story on to their house and it's amazing how they got it framed up and got the roof on in 2 days. The rain should keep their hammers and saws quiet for a while (hopefully). Actually, they don't make much noise. Most of the noise comes from Daisy barking at the construction workers.

The salon is doing really well. I had a slow stretch the first 2 weeks of February, but so far March has been much busier.

There isn't much else do say so I'll sign off for tonight. Battlestar Galactica is about to start so I'd better get comfortable. For those of you who dont watch it, it's on SciFi channel Sundays at 9pm. It's a really good show.

Jealous?

The only real reason for this blog posting is to make all of the women (and men too, I guess)who read this jealous. My boss, Petra, has this incredible boyfriend named Paul. He's a really nice guy who owns a few McDonald's locations. Last week he brought her these roses. From what I understand, you have to special order these roses from Ecuador 3 months in advance. When they arrived, the stems were 6 feet tall and the actual flowers were as big as my fist and they weren't even open yet. The florist next door to the salon takes them every 2 days and cuts the stems down to keep them fresh. SO, tell your husbands that you want some of these next valentines day. I have NO idea how much they cost but I'm pretty sure I can't afford them.

How do I explain this????

Ok, so here's the thing. Remember the truck that Mark bought in January? Well, he decided he didn't like it. He was honestly having alot of remorse for buying such an impractical vehicle when he has always been one who chastises others who have big honkin' SUV's when in reality they have no reason to own such a gas guzzler. He was beating himself up for compromising his principals. SO, after owning it for less than 60 days, we traded it in on a new car. We bought a Toyota Corolla S. It's silver and it gets really good mileage. He is now going to drive the Toyota Yaris that I bought last year and I will drive the Corolla.

Here is a picture of the new car from the Toyota website. Ours looks just like this with the exception of the sunroof.
